Remember, Remember Last November

Remember, Remember Last November

Last November was a life-altering month for me as a writer. With NaNoWriMo fast approaching, I shared my memories of last year, and my expectations for this year in my latest Confabulator Cafe post, “Remember, Remember Last November.” You can read it now at: http://www.confabulatorcafe.com/2012/10/remember-remember-the-last-november/

All November, my weekly Monday column will be a report on the progress of “Heaven’s Edge,” the dystopian noir novel that I will be writing as part of NaNoWriMo. Another November, another novel. Let’s get to work.

A New Look

You might have noticed things look a look a little different around here. I decided to make the site a little easier to navigate. At the top of the page, you can find all sorts of good stuff. At “The Web,” you will see links I frequent, such as LitReactor.com or the Horror Writer’s Association. At “The Work,” you see where my writing can be found right now, and where you will be seeing it in the near future. At “The Writer” you will find my bio.

If you are new here, welcome. If you’ve been here before, welcome back. There should be lots of news in the next few months. I have four stories accepted and waiting to go to print with several others still submitted. NaNoWriMo is just around the corner, and I will be writing a Sci-Fi Noir novel titled Heaven’s Edge.

Stick around. You won’t want to miss a moment.

Calliope and other News

Calliope and other News

This week for the Confabulator Cafe, we decided to get into the Halloween spirit by writing stories about carnivals. Anyone who has read much on here will know that I am a big Ray Bradbury fan. His writing had a huge influence on me, and he stands as one of my favorite writers of all time. My contribution is a short story titled “Calliope.” You can check it out at http://www.confabulatorcafe.com/2012/10/calliope-flash-fiction/

In other news, Bette Noir has accepted “Flute of the Dead” for publication in their October 2013 double-issue. The Rusty Nail has accepted “Victor’s Indifference” for future publication at an unknown date. Also, my poem “What the Fires Consumed” should be appearing in Danse Macabre Du Jour some time this month.

November is NaNoWriMo, and I am planning a new novel titled “The Dreamcatcher.” Time might be an issue since I will also be wrapping up this semester of grad school, but we’ll see if I can get my fifty thousand words written.

Thanks for reading. I could not handle this crazy life without all of your support.

Time, You Ain’t No Friend of Mine

Time, You Ain’t No Friend of Mine

As you can tell from my lack of updates, time is the greatest threat to my writing these days. I wrote about it for The Confabulator Cafe this week.

Time, You Ain’t No Friend of Mine

I have been staying busy with writing, but it has mostly been academically or for The Confabulator Cafe. I am thinking about making some of the academic writing available on this site, as well, so you can all see what I have been up to.
